General Information
Our school’s vision for the future is: To develop
individuals who can act with confidence as leaders in a rapidly changing
world.
Our school’s mission is aimed at the child as an individual:
To guide primary school children towards discovering their
God-given talents and to develop them optimally in a climate of security
and love.
School History
Welgemoed Primary first opened its doors in 1965 with 41 learners and 2
teachers. The school was housed across the street where we presently have
the Pick ‘n Pay Centre. True to its motto, ‘Prospicimus’ (look ahead), the
school has grown and expanded and thanks to dedicated cooperation and
assistance from an involved parent community, Welgemoed Primary is both
grateful and proud to say that we are able to offer our learners excellent
facilities in near perfect surroundings.
We pride ourselves on creating a warm and relaxed atmosphere in which to
nurture our children and to fulfil our mission of guiding our learners to
develop their God-given talents optimally in a climate of security and love.
We are unique in the sense that we are a relatively small school, but we
have been blessed with numerous marvellous moments where we could share in
the joy of exceptional achievements by our learners across a wide spectrum
of activities: academic excellence, sport, arts and culture, leadership.
Reason enough to call ourselves ‘Blessies’, but we at Welgemoed refer to
ourselves as the ‘Blessie family’ because of the red-knobbed coot
(‘bleshoender’) on our school badge.
At Welgemoed Primary we truly care about each member of our family. In our
striving for excellence we integrate learning and technology. Apart from
having a fully equipped Media Centre with an Interactive Whiteboard
facility, as well as a computer classroom where IT is taught to all our
learners, every classroom in our school is also equipped with a computer and
plasma screen. Achieving a goal is the culmination of talent, dedication and
perseverance. Some goals are shared goals, others are personal. Because we
at Welgemoed Primary wish every learner to experience a measure of success,
we offer remedial help at the Prospicimus Education Centre, as well as
access to specialised services such as speech and occupational therapy. We
also have a dedicated Teacher Support Team to aid learners in need of
assistance.
Welgemoed Primary may be a (relatively) small school, but we have a big
heart and giant dreams for our learners. We cover the distance step by step.
