Step-Up and class procedures
The Step-Up principle involves ICT skills mastered at different levels, irrespective of age and grade. Learners
must first master the basic skills before moving on to more advanced skills. Record keeping off each learner
will be important to determine successful levels achieved.
To make this possible, the following procedures will be followed:
The Term layout will contain the lessons and content that will be explained and demonstrated to the learners.
Each lesson of 60 minutes will be utilized as follows:
10 min: Register and admin
20 min: Explanations and demonstrations
20 min: Practical session for learners
10 min: Free time (learners may choose any activity on computer)
Explanations and demonstrations will focus on the content according to the work in the Term’s layout.
During the practical sessions learners will be evaluated to see what steps have been mastered.
Learners that work slower must finish tasks given, even if they have to repeat work in follow-up lessons.
The first priority of work to be demonstrated/explained is the scheduled work for the lesson. All learners must
participate.
Differentiation takes place during the practical session. Learners must then work according to the step-up plan.
Individual attention is based on a walk-through principle. When the lecturer starts from one side walking through the
isles, he assists learners with their hands up and complete the path to the other end of the class.
Learners are also encourage to help one another.
